Thawtz on Ghostbusters kinda flopping

Damn. Wouldn't have taken much to make an at least good well made entry in the ghostbuster franchise.

I mean, it's done. All ghostheads online are doing now is trying to wipe the new movie under the rug and forget it existed.

Duh.

I mean it's like giving a shit about son of the mask for more than two seconds. They made a giant cash grab movie, that's all it was. Scooby Doo 3... Nothing to care about.

I have no desire under the blue sky to EVER watch the scooby doo movies ever again and I tried. Let me tell you this. When that shit dropped on dvd, I rented it and watched the fuck out of it trying to salvage it in my brain as a good movie. I could not. It deliberately was just awful.

So what now. Sadly hi-c will cut ecto cooler off and we'll be seeing the stuff be discontinued once again.

There's SOME hope. The movie didn't flop outright. It may over time with toy sales and blu ray sales etc. actually break even.

They won't make a sequel though. They got the message from the public. Making a remake of a classic movie isn't a good idea. The original is a classic for a reason. Shit, it was like watching spaceballs as a remake of star wars, the new ghostbusters movie. Seriously.

That's a perfect analogy to my viewing experience.

Even RGB took the ghostbusters concept more seriously than the new movie did. That's what I liked about ghostbusters as a kid, it was like watching a regular movie to a large extent. Yeah it was funny, but it also felt normal just with extraordinary stuff happening. To have the whole movie from frame 1 be a cartoonish clown show, you lose that sense of realism off the bat. So the comedy can't shine through above the realism since everything is comedic and stupid.

It's sony's fault. It wouldn't have taken much at all like I said to just make a decent gb3. Now it's a joke of a flick that nobody cares about and no sequel will be made. It did bring back ecto cooler though.

I just hope hi-c just keeps pumping it out for a good long while. It will be cancelled again so you all will have to stock pile it now.

Only hope we have is that the cartoon they're working on does well. If that shit is actually good, they'll keep ecto cooler going.

I can't believe ghostbusters has been twisted and turned inside out like it has today. Honestly never concieved of this being a possibility at all.

Ghosbusters is a lot more than just a silly kids franchise. A LOT more. That's what the people working on these new gb things are missing. It's about man's power to decide his own destiny through science and tech. I'm of course a huge tech fan, been into it all my life... so things where technology are the main centerpiece of a film is always fascinating to me. I love seeing what can be done with new tech to aid man in extraordinary situations. That's what gb has granted to generations of fans, the sci-fi aspect of seeing mankind create something to decide their own fate, the proton pack, traps, gb is as much sci-fi as it is comedy. To remove the sci-fi and just focus on the comedy is a huge mistake. It's everything. It's fantasy, scifi, and comedy all in one, plus a love story if you care about venkman's love interests. But damn, none of that good shit ws in the new movie. It was like not a ghostbusters movie. I don't care what anybody on the internet says. It wasn't. It was pixels.
