Thoughts on Harry Potter business model

We're done with Harry Potter and all that. I was what in 2000 13 or so when harry potter came out. It was a wonderful experience. I mean it was better I have to say than the star wars prequels ended up being. Imagine that, you got a series that is obviously heavily influenced by star wars that ends up being better more fun to watch than the actual star wars movies. I don't know what George was smoking when he made those films in the end. He's nuts.

But yeah I was thinking about how damn lame it is that we're not going to see more from the harry potter story anymore. All the actors made their millions and are now hanging out doing nothing or doing roles that in the end nobody cares about.

I mean I was thinking about the money side of things. They spent maybe total 300 mil on one film then it went and earned a world wide gross of damn something close to 800 mil. Unbelievable shit.

And they COULD have kept that free money ticket going except they had to end it because, well no more books. You can see why the last film was split in two. NO hell no, not to flesh out the story, so much shit was left out it's absurd, but they wanted to have double the money in the end.

And they damn well did. But even so. I mean it was a trip, why end something that was so friggin lucrative? I mean they went and made 3 big bloated retarded hobbit films because once again they had a free money ticket and just making one movie made no blasted sense...

We got new star wars on the horizon. The concept here is not only to feed JJ Abram's fanboy longing to make a star wars movie, but to also set up the potential to make star wars FOREVER.

When you think about it. It's genius. There's no end to star wars as far as any of us know. Yeah things did get tied up in RotJ but the EU's been having a field day coming up with shit to continue the story and of course the characters have a lot of story left to tell all things considered. Yeah they won the battle of Endor but now Luke has to figure out how to rebuild the jedi, something we never see and must have been a huge complex thing to accomplish. Does he? Does he start a new council, find force sensitive people, train them, re-build and then when the Sith return somehow he's got an army ready?

I hate to burst everyone's bubble about force awakens, but I mean I've been a fanboy my whole life. I've seen these types of movies. The original creator no longer making the movie. The studio wants more monnnnnnaaaay so they go ahead and forge forward with more movies no matter how off the mark they are. TERMINATOR!!!

The good thing is that practically EVERYONE involved with force awakens was THERE when they made star wars, so yeah lucas has been left in the dust, but it's not like this movies completely without anyone from the old crew, so it should definitely still feel and function like a star wars movie we knew before the prequels fucked us.

I don't know what the fuck I'm about to see with this movie... I just don't. I hope it's a bate and switch. We're all expecting a big sexy ridiculous over the top nostalgia fest of a star wars movie full of winks and nods to the OT and maybe tons of PT hate, but it's an actually movie, real deal, solid good movie like some shit that comes out in theaters and nobody sees but it's really well made shit.

That would blow me away. If the movie's actually a quiet independent film and not a star wars movie really. Kinda like with Superman Returns.

Will it be? HELL NO... Look at JJ's Shitty star trek movies. Big Loud, and STUPID. That's what he's going to give us.

But it is a huge artistic challenge, to bring star war back. To explore the new characters. Maybe even kill off some of the OT characters and shit...
