Here we stand, it's that age, that time when gaming truly has reached its apex moreso now than ever. I've watched its rapid evolution, we all have and it's been an amazing journey. Where else is there to go really. Once you've got the f'n Matrix going, which is what Gta Online is, it's the Matrix, where else is there to f'n go with gaming?
I think even R is having trouble with that question. They've peaked, every DLC is the same shit. The current one is being called out for what it is, more of the same. It's been given a fancy title, a few new variations on aircraft and basically is just the same "go here, pick this shit up and put it over here." grind that we've gotten for the last few months with the other dlc's.
And this isn't above R, they'll release garbage game modes ala tiny racers and that shitty adversary mode with the armor. Both bombed on release and were a joke and embarrassed them.
Even overtime rumble quickly lost their novelty. Why release game modes that will soon be abandoned and become unplayable as nobody wants to suffer them once they become stale?
Only thing that looks any good is the new race mode where you change vehicles throughout the race. And they're holding it back!
My thoughts on the new dlc... might as well be associated with the bunker dlc, it's just an expansion of that, using air craft. They had lofty goals with it, make it its own sort of mini business where people would have massive wars in the sky over smuggling goods by air. But getting your aircraft is still a pain in the ass. So that defeats the purpose if it takes you 10 minutes to spawn your air craft, have to to drive to it, climb up to it whatever.. Nobody wants to be hassled with that. So as long as you join a session where there isn't someone hanging out all day in his jet, you can rest assured nobody's going to spawn their plane 3 miles away just to grief your shipments. Meaning, this dlc is just the ceo and MC and Bunker missions AGAIN but with planes... which actually removes any of the challenge of the other ones since now you can get your shit done without worrying about anyone coming after you because they'd have to take ten years to get their shit and fly after you, you'll be done before they get there.... just dumb...
One good thing about this new dlc and there are a very tiny few good thing about it, you can now spawn the cars from the special vehicle garage, knight rider car etc. As much as the youtube gta guys are trying to find good stuff about it, it's not, it's just a fancy plane hanger and a few new useless planes you'll never use....
Finally they woke up about it and said, ok yeah we can have shit like your buzzard spawn close, your MOC spawn close, the oppressor, mini tank, even pegasus vehicles will be delivered, but naw not your blazer aqua, hell no. Finally they wised up and have it be possible to call for those. That's nice.
Other than that, haven't really seen much about the new stuff that I'd say was worth the trouble of making up a big woop about. Would be nice to have multiple hangers. If you're at the airport, use that. If you're up the map use that. Hell, love to have an actual airline even. Run an airline and you can fly those big air liners. It's possible, the code is in the game to have us fly the jumbo jets, yet they refuse to let us fly them even though it was possible in SA and yeah, flying the jumbo jets is so much fun to do. It's what makes gta gta, you can do shit that you can't do in real life. Now it's like, neutered for whatever reason...
Imagine flying a jumbo Jet loaded with guns and you had a crew of maybe 5 or 6 guys defending your big ass jet from like all kinds of shit. THAT was the intention behind this DLC but they apparently lost their nerve and watered it down for release... stupid....
As it is now, just the same old shit, but easier. You won't get people going after you in the air for your shit, it's too much of a pain to drive down to the planes and all that, you'll be fine...
Let me conclude all this with a rant and a proposal sort of thing:
GTA is a GAME. The purpose of games, from UNO to Snakes and Ladders, to Nintendo to SEGA back to Nintendo and then Over to SONY and XBOX cuz SEGA got Boned...
I'm not going to go into the science of gaming and psychology of gaming which are probably interesting topics. But suffice it enough to say, typical sport games consist of pick up this ball and put it over here to score, wash rinse repeat, where things get interesting is having a wall of various types in between picking up the ball and putting it over there... having interesting people and personalities picking up the ball and putting it over there... having drama, last minute prayers between picking up the ball and putting it over there... to release a game consisting of pick up this ball and put it over there where you just simply walk the ball over un bothered is NOT A GAME. Yet R keeps releasing this shit...
They've forgotten what we buy games for or used to before the games became mini-societies. It used to be because the games were actual full of challenge and you were prevented from winning in every way possible. As the 90s rolled on, the games became more about amazing graphics and we started to hear worries about games becoming too close to reality and becoming life simulators WE ALL SHRUGGED, games still were focused on creating a tough obstacle course to master and build and develop yourself through. That's gaming. It's about getting BETTER at it. So you win. You build yourself up, whatever, fight hadouken, and suddenly IMPROVE. I love games like that. Like, whenever I play GTA I actually just join races mostly, that's still the only thing worth shit to do. The races are actual games, you have to be good to win them, that's kinda the point of a game....
Rockstar has abandoned the GAMING aspect of GTA and focused on the SIMS Aspect of GTA apparently... Life Simulator. Yunno, I liked the sims, then when I did everything, got all the good stuff, built a badass house, I realized, none of this is real and none of this means anything... I just am taking care of a mini digital fish tank.
GTA IS NOT THE SIMS.
Never has been. Never will be. FOCUS ON GAMING.
Edit:
In addition, so tragic really. They release this half baked attempt at getting people to having more air oriented combat which will never 'fly' but they COULD have had us having ocean based combat or even under water combat all along if we could f'n drive our yachts anywhere we wanted and had to defend them from land and air. More proof they don't care...
