Full trailer thawtz...

An improvement...

This is totally different footage from the teaser too so that's a wtf. There's no doubt they'll make their money back for having to go through and reshoot the movie. It's going to be ok. Ron Howard will never make an unwatchable film. He's not Lucas, he knows how to make a movie work.

Loads of people who want to side with the movie now are busting a nut over it. It's not going to be a GREAT movie. Not possible considering all the drama that went into making it. It'll be ok. It's all Ron Howard has ever done as a film maker make ok stuff.

I wish I could make people realize this but go ahead, blow your expectations up and then go watch a ron howard flick and get them shot back to reality, it's on you.

A few points. Alden's obviously god awful as Han. No wonder they were hiding him from us all this time. I can only imagine how bad Lando's gonna be if they let Alden suck as han so badly... ugh.

Star Wars doesn't have narrations so why is that a thing in the trailer? I don't have a huge issue with it but it's again not good acting or even sounding like han and not star wars.

That's my last point. It's not feeling like star wars. Maybe it was never intended to be, don't know. It looks exactly like what it is, a massively expensive fan film.

Temper your expectations. rogue one's teasers and trailers were excellent, the film was a forgettable star wars fan film you'd find on youtube any day.

Just sayin.

Edit: In addition...

Got to say this movie will probably not do gangbusters for a few reasons. First of all being the wonky performance by Alden. He looks and oozes nervousness. He was not ready to do the film and it shows.

We know his story. This is no longer the Phil and Miller semi-starwars parody space balls movie that they were making, it's going to be more akin to rogue one and try to be in line with the main movies so you can watch it in continuity. It would have been better to do it Lord and Miller's way since why would we want to watch the story of a character who gets an anti climactic death? sure this movie can be as fun as it wants to be and have as much story and drama as it wants to have but we know how it ends so we will just be sitting there watching things happen with no suspense. We know  han will live, lando will live. The only wild cards are the new characters but who gives a damn about them at all? The only way to make a movie like this is to make it fun and comedic. Lord and Miller were right in their approach.

The fear of stepping outside of the safety zone with this movie is what will ultimately be its undoing.

It certainly looks like a hell of a battle star galactica episode. I should know, I watched classic battle star galactica. Go watch the show's intro. It's exactly like that trailer prettymuch. Star Wars is tough to get right because well, it's about imagination going wild. It's about going to places far far away in another galaxy. That trailer looks like, OH it's a movie set. Oh they're on location shooting in a desert for the billionth time in a star wars film. Jesus christ, do something, NEW.

I fear that this was all a mistake. Taking it away from Lucas, say whatever you want but Lucas got that star wars is about venturing into the unknown. You never know what you're going to get with star wars because it's about not knowing... that's the point. To make a star wars film where you can basically know what to expect is so wrong.

I'll end this by saying, have fun. Take the kids. It will be about as good as what Ron Howard can give and enjoy it. I may rant, but I enjoyed TPM all day back when I was 12. I mean, that's part of the life of fanboys, just having fun with this stuff. I have my gripes with the movie but I don't want to step on anyone elses fun to be honest. That's all I'll say about it, I guess... could have been a real treat if Lord and Miller got their way... now it'll be, what it is...

My thoughts on the trailer:
