Interesting... kinda a weird ass trailer, gonna be blunt about it. No sense of awe and wonder and delight at being in this new amazing place or anything, which is kinda the point of star wars, taking us deep into a galaxy far far away. The opening text is partially what really drives star wars. It's pure fantasy and tries its best to divorce itself from any link to our world.
But Hamill owns in it. The story is what the hell am I watching. I just don't feel it. We'll see if it's worth a damn, nothing visually stunning about it. As many have pointed out the cgi is in your face awful. To me it's looking too clean and prequelish. Gotta hand it to the OT, they didn't fuck around when it came to making the world look ancient and full of grit and scratches and dents to sell the illusion of this being a real old universe where something happened to these characters we'll never see.
We get none of that long worn out history going any more. Everything is clean and new and nice like the prequels, good job there.
I guess I'm being too harsh on it? Don't know, but star wars is not kiddie hour, it's big business, gotta do it properly.
So, the beta for battlefront will still be going until wednesday.... guess they realized cutting the beta short right when star wars hype was about to blow up was stupid.... Thankfully it allows me time to get more into the beta than I had time for, now I can relax tomorrow and just play all day in it as I take a break from delivering stupid groceries.
Well, this is interesting, more questions than answers though. I hope it's going to be a really great one, lord knows I need that, my star wars to be great.
And going to go see blade runner tomorrow as well. All signs point to it being a bomb. Shame. shame, not going to make studios want to create thought provoking movies and that's problematic...
We need more blade runners and less transformers, that's the truth.... see ya at the movies...
